Martin Luther King Concert of Spirituals!

The Cantilena Chamber Choir will present a Martin Luther King weekend Psalms and Spirituals open sing at Trinity Church, 88 Walker Street in Lenox on Sunday, January 19th at 3:00pm. Special guests include the MCLA Allegrettos (two time 1st place winners of the Lenox Caroling Festival) and the Taconic HS Choir. Dr. King will be remembered in poems and speeches, but the focus of the program will be a spiritual sing along with the choirs. The choirs will also perform works by themselves by Alice Parker, Moses Hogan and arrangements of familiar spirituals such as Deep River, Ride up in the Chariot, and Wade in the Water. All words and music will be provided.

The MCLA Allegrettos provide a visually stimulating and entertaining performance to a variety of audiences. They began as a 10 person caroling group and now numbers about 50 performing a capella and gospel music. Taconic High School Honors Chorus and director Jessica Passetto performs concerts at school and community events such as Senior Center Activities, Nursing Homes, City Hall, Tree Lighting Ceremony, City Council Inaugurations and Third Thursday’s.

Admission is free of charge but with a suggested donation of $15 per ticket at the door.
