Martin Luther King in this Time: a Concert of Spirituals!

The Cantilena Chamber Choir will present its annual Martin Luther King weekend Psalms and Spirituals open sing.

Dr. King will be remembered in poems and speeches, but the focus of the program will be a spiritual sing along with the choirs. The choirs will also perform works by themselves by Andre Thomas, Raymond Wise Alice Parker. All words and music will be provided.

Shirley Ann Session Edgerton is a Community Activist and Diversity Trainer. She is the founder of the Women of Color Giving Circle, the Rites of
Passage and Empowerment program for girls and founding Director of Youth
Alive performing Arts group. She serves on numerous boards and committees and has received several
awards in recognition of her work in the community. Ms. Edgerton will speak on the Martin Luther King message “Living in perilous times: Love can drive out darkness.”


Pittsfield’s well-known Zion AME Church Choir is under the direction of Paul Keele. They have performed in numerous Berkshire venues such as the Barrington Stage and most recently the Berkshire Museum.

Admission is free of charge but with a suggested donation of $15 per ticket at the door. This is concert is funded by a generous grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council’s Cultural Investment Portfolio.
